E-bike tour to Castell de Guadalest. 65km.

After a very Spanish breakfast at the hotel, guests saunter one by one to their electric bikes. Fully charged overnight and lined up waiting in the morning sun. These are the perfect bike for guests who want to see more than would otherwise be possible. You still want to work, to feel your legs propel the bike forward, albeit with some handy assistance in this mountainous terrain.

We ride mainly on designated cycle paths to Altea La Vella and progress further inland, the open landscape littered with fruit trees and rural fincas. We climb to Callosa d’en Sarria and onwards through the Guadalest lost valley assisted by our e-bikes. The road snakes within the rocky landscape and Castell de Guadalest comes into view.

At the top we take a break for a coffee and tostada in the warm sunshine. Guests can wander at leisure to explore the quaint streets and Castell. Or to buy some local honey, handmade jewellery, and other souvenirs. Their bikes left safely with the cycle guide.

On a mixture of tarmac and light gravel we tour round the magnificent reservoir. So blue it reflects the mountain landscape like a painting. We stop for photographs, points of interest and to simply take in the view. Looking up we see a different perspective on the Castell de Guadalest towering above.

Here comes the really fun part. We descend smooth winding roads en route home, with stunning and varied panoramas outstretched to Sea. We ride through Polop taking in the sights and roll further to finish in Altea old town for a post ride drink and a few tapas. Tortilla Espanola, fried artichokes and padron peppers are the choice today.

Ride this route and many more on one of our Altea Hotel Breaks, Spain. All abilities welcome.
